Outlook Express, Outlook & Windows Live Mail

If I could choose as to what the most annoying problem is with Windows machines it is the local mail clients for Windows. Same troubleshooting over and over again. Check the smtp, pop3, ssl connection settings, email address, password, .pst file, .dbx file. and after all of that send the customer back to the internet provider because the password is not correct for the customer's sympatico or rogers account, then the internet provider tells them everything is fine on their end and it is a problem with the computer and sends them back to us and we do a format and reinstall wow same issue NO ****. Soon we will have the same issue with Macs as Microsoft is releasing a Mac version of Outlook 2007/2010. Great as if they didn't screw us enough with Windows, they just want to eff up the entire computer market. PEOPLE GO WEB BASED YA MORON'S.

Why Won't People Listen???

Whenever purchasing anything electronic people have to clue in and realize that nothing is made to last, everything will always fail at one point or another. This is why if you hold important data on your computer you must always backup your data. We techs & sales people preach this to customers when purchasing a new system or when they have a system in for service then when they have a hard drive failure and lose those first 4 years of their child's life or their entire database for their business and again THEY GET PISSED AT US FOR IT. They get mad at us because they realize how stupid they were when they said no to a backup hard drive because their cheap. I'm sure all of us techs feel the same way when the customer has a complete hard drive failure call the customer and say "we need to replace your hard drive, just bring in your backup and we'll transfer the data", and the famous and most common response from the customer is "ummm, I don't have one"......Well then no data for you-who.

Even if someone does experience a situation where they lose everything, have the hard drive replaced, then have another complete hard drive failure 90% of people will still have not backed up their data.

Commonly used lines when asked why they don't backup & my response to their reason.

Customer: "I don't have the time to spend backing up"
Me: "We'll then it can't be that important & you're just a lazy moron"

Customer: "I don't want to spend the money on a backup hard drive"
Me: "Then your a cheap douche and just want a reason to bitch and complain"

Customer: "You never told me to backup"
Me: *Prints out quote for backup hard drive when customer had first hard drive failure* "Yeah, shut up. Your a liar, go away"

Murphy's Law

"Anything that can go wrong will go wrong"

When this law was created were they thinking about computers?!?! When dealing with computers that line should always be considered. No matter what. A simple ram install to a nice and easy fresh install of windows. Something will always eff up eventually. Techs often think, why did I choose this job, why do I do this to myself......Because we're idiots and like to challenge ourselves even if the outcome is us becoming uptight, strung out geeks who have problems socializing with the public in the end, this post won't contain very much as I just got off a 16 hour shift and am tired as hell. But will be back tomorrow!!

Why Must People Of All Ages Be Helpless,Stubborn & Just Plain Stupid?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I don't understand how such a high percentage of people must be babied along for everything, I mean some people we techs help on the phone are owners of multi million dollar companies, yet they cannot find for themselves how to simply right click on a icon and delete it or if they call in asking how to correct a problem, you make a list of suggestions and they say no to every answer you provide them, are they just bored and wish to argue with someone? or are they really really paranoid that you are just pulling random answers out of your ass to get them out of your hair.....yes yes this is sometimes true but other times we techs all around the world are being truthful and actually trying to find solutions to these idiotic and somewhat looney problems people cause on their computers.

Example:

Say if you were to view a website that said "click here to recieve a free lifetime supply of viagra and increase your _____ size by 40", all we require is your credit card number, sin number, bank number and pin number" and a customer were to do that and then they get a virus on their system and bring it in to get serviced, some of them would find it in their hearts TO BLAME US TECHS & NOT WANT TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR, crazy I know.

But.....

If they got behind the wheel of their car with a 40 of Vodka, crash their vehicle into a telephone pole, then take their car to the repair shop, and blame the mechanic for the accident I wonder if the customer would understand how retarded they sound?

Knowing how retarded the average person is, I don't think they would.

This is dedicated to all the hard working techs out there who feel dumber and dumber as every day passes dealing with people like this.
